HP Photosmart Premium Fax C309a All-in-One Inkjet

Not too long ago, we previewed the HP Photosmart Premium Fax Inkjet All-in-One and its DLNA-certified connectivity with Playstation 3 and other popular electronic devices. Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity make the printer shareable over a home or office network, and the Premium Fax can scan, copy, fax, auto-duplex, print at a reported 32 ppm in color and 33 in black, and process multi-page documents on its own with the spacious 50 page auto document feeder (ADF). On top of all that, you can print on CDs and DVDs, and print photos PC-free via Bluetooth, Memory Card, and PictBridge. But forget the spec sheet for a minute - what do the experts think of the Premium Fax’s actual performance? A couple reviewers have tried this new MFP for themselves, and they give it a strong endorsement for several key reasons.

HardwareGeeks.com gives the Premium Fax its coveted Editors Choice Award for its attractive design, easy PC-free network setup, fast print speeds, and smooth overall functionality. The CD/DVD tray works well, and the dedicated photo tray seamlessly switches in and out with the regular paper tray as needed. The review concludes that the Premium Fax is “great for the small office and perfect for the home office.”

Justin Yu of CNET gives the Premium Fax an excellent 4 stars out of 5 for its fast print speed, high quality output, high capacity ADF, easy-to-use control panel, and attractive, practical design. He also likes the convenient Quick Forms feature, which enables you to print blank “calendars, to-do lists, fax coversheets, and lined paper” with a simple press of a button. PC and network connections are easy to set up, and the Photosmart Essential photo editing software is second to none for ease of use. In addition, the dedicated photo tray makes photo printing that much easier. On the flipside, the paper input and output trays can take a little time to figure out, and ink costs are a little on the high side. Regardless, the Premium Fax performs extremely well against the competition in speed and output tests, and is highly recommended for home, school and business users.
